Work for VITA VITAE (Vv), a design consultancy based in Singapore. It was decided to extend two of our existing typefaces and make designs that would work for both their website, CRAVE magazine and all the other collateral, business cards, email sign offs etc. 

We created a finer LDN Kono Hairline and a LDN Kono Hairline Italic plus a thicker LDN Modern called LDN Modern No.2 with an italic for Vv. The ideas came from discussions with Kathy Lim Sheehy, the founder of Vv, about reflecting her early career (working on sophisticated magazines like best-selling Her World and the Silver Kris magazine she created for Singapore Airlines).

The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) has been the voice of dyslexic people since 1972. They are a membership organisation working to achieve a dyslexia-friendly society for all. 

Legibility and accessibility were the primary drivers behind this project and after initial discussions with BDA’s design partner Scream Blue Murder we realised that a customised version of our very own LDN Kono, designed by the king of legible type Eiichi Kono, was the best solution. 

LDN Kono BDA comes in four styles: Medium, Medium Italic, Bold and Bold Italic. Eiichi’s original design is so highly legible that only tiny changes to the lower case 'a' were necessary. We are so pleased that the designs for the Kono family which are clear, neat and stylish, are now recognised to have the ‘future of accessibility’ at their core.
