Paul Harpin says he was inspired to create LDN Clerkenwell Script as he had never found a script typeface that he wanted to use. He had always loved Sloop, designed by Richard Lipton.
All the more traditional English Roundhand typefaces he tried fell short of the work of many brilliant calligraphic lettering artists he had commissioned over his many years in the magazine industry or had seen on invitations and place settings at more formal dinners.
Having drawn his quite unusual Bow Script (inspired by an epitaph to Milton on Bow church) Paul finally felt up to the task. He was keen to have as many optional flourished glyphs as he could muster and at the last minute decided to add a bold version too.
LDN Clerkenwell Script contains a wealth of swashed style options for each character and projects a wonderfully formal elegance wherever it’s used. Hope you like it.
