LDN Penrose is a versatile suite of gridded geometric fonts designed by Paul Harpin in homage to the brilliant Penrose family of distinguished artists and mathematicians.

Roger Penrose is a Nobel Laureate in Physics and inventor of non-periodic tiling. His uncle was the esteemed historian, poet and artist Roland Penrose, who was married to war photographer, muse and Vogue model Lee Miller. Roland penned Picasso’s monograph and founded the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) in London.

Unconnected to the Penrose family, but sharing the same name, are the highly influential Penrose Annuals, quintessential graphic design & typography volumes published by Lund Humphries. They were a huge inspiration for Paul as a graphic design student in Leeds.

LDN Penrose is a system-based family comprising 8 alphanumeric fonts sharing identical metrics but each with their own unique implementation of fills and corners across the grid. A bonus font with further background grids is also included.
